Raleigh, Cary Voter Guides Now Online

RALEIGH – With early voting underway for Raleigh, Cary and Wake School Board elections, voters can learn about the contenders in this year’s contests at NCVoterGuide.org.

Produced in a partnership between the N.C. Center for Voter Education and UNC-TV, the online guide includes profiles on each candidate for Raleigh City Council, Cary Town Council and Wake School Board. The site also provides extensive video coverage of candidate forums for these contests.

“Unfortunately, municipal elections often suffer from low voter turnout, although local government can have a more direct impact on our lives than decisions made at the state or federal level,” said Damon Circosta, executive director of the N.C. Center for Voter Education. “This guide is designed to empower voters with the facts they need to fully participate in this year’s vital local elections, so that they can make their voice heard on issues that affect them and their community.”

In addition to including information on the Oct. 11 elections for Raleigh, Cary and Wake County School Board, the guide will soon provide profiles on candidates running in the Nov. 8 elections for other Wake County municipalities.

Founded in 1999, the N.C. Center for Voter Education is a Raleigh-based nonprofit and nonpartisan organization, dedicated to helping citizens more fully participate in democracy.
