2011 Local Voter Guides Now Online

RALEIGH – With early voting underway for local elections across North Carolina, voters can learn about the contenders in many of this year’s contests at NCVoterGuide.org.

Produced in a partnership between the N.C. Center for Voter Education and UNC-TV, the online guide includes profiles for candidates running in 30 towns and cities around the state.

“Unfortunately, municipal elections often suffer from low voter turnout, although local government can have a more direct impact on our lives than decisions made at the state or federal level,” said Damon Circosta, executive director of the N.C. Center for Voter Education. “This guide is designed to empower voters with the facts they need to fully participate in this year’s vital local elections, so that they can make their voice heard on issues that affect them and their community.”

Municipalities included in this year’s voter guide are:

Asheboro

Apex

Chapel Hill
