N.C. Center for Voter Education Manages 2009 Cary Community Candidate Forum
RALEIGH - Cary voters can get an in-depth look at candidates for Town Council and school board by tuning in to the 2009 Cary Community Candidate Forum, managed for the second-straight election by the N.C. Center for Voter Education.
The forum features candidates for Cary’s At-Large, District A and District C Town Council seats, along with contests for Wake Board of Education Districts 2, 7 and 9. Questions for the forum come from Cary citizens, including video questions recorded at the 2009 Lazy Daze Arts and Crafts Festival in downtown Cary.
The six-part forum will run frequently on Cary TV-11 throughout the weeks leading up to the town’s Oct. 6 Election Day.
“Our research shows that the No. 1 reason why voters don’t go to the polls is because they don’t know enough about the candidates,” said Damon Circosta, executive director of the N.C. Center for Voter Education and moderator of the forum. “We hope this forum will empower Cary voters with the facts they need to cast a confident ballot in this year’s pivotal local elections.”
In addition to watching the televised forum, Cary voters can get facts on this year’s candidates by visiting www.NCVoterGuide.org/cary, an online voter guide created in partnership between the N.C. Center for Voter Education and UNC-TV.
The N.C. Center for Voter Education is a Raleigh-based nonprofit and nonpartisan organization dedicated to helping citizens more fully participate in democracy.
